1987 North Wind 47 – Center Cockpit Bluewater Cruiser
Designed by Marcelo Pena and built by the renowned Spanish yard North Wind, this 12.77-meter GRP monohull offers exceptional strength, volume, and seaworthiness for offshore cruising or comfortable living aboard. Featuring a 4.26-meter beam, a 2.0-meter draft with a robust fin keel, and generous 2.0-meter interior headroom, this vessel strikes an ideal balance between blue-water performance and interior comfort.
Sailing & Performance
Configured for efficient short-handed passage-making, the yacht is rigged with 2017 standing rigging, an electric winch, a spinnaker pole, and an emergency tiller setup. Her comprehensive sail wardrobe includes a furling mainsail, a furling Genoa (new in 2023), an asymmetric spinnaker, a gennaker, a storm jib, and a dedicated spinnaker complete with its own furling system. Under power, she is driven by a reliable 100 HP Volvo Penta TMD 31A inboard diesel engine paired with a 3-blade bronze Variprop folding propeller, delivering a comfortable 7.5-knot cruising speed and a range of approximately 450 nautical miles. Maneuverability in tight marinas is effortless thanks to a dedicated bow thruster, which underwent a complete overhaul in 2025.
Deck, Navigation & Systems
The cockpit and side decks are finished in classic teak, protected by a bimini top and spray hood, and equipped with a cockpit table, custom cushions, a deck shower, and a tender carried on stern davits. At the helm, navigation is powered by a Raymarine touchscreen plotter (upgraded screen 2024), autopilot, radar, GPS, AIS, depth sounder, log-speedometer, and VHF radio.
Designed for extended off-grid capability, her electrical grid runs on 220V supported by a 2023 Victron MPPT inverter, battery charger, 400W of flexible stern solar panels, and a wind generator. She carries 900 liters of fresh water across two tanks, supplemented by a dual desalinator setup featuring a PowerSurvivor 35 unit alongside a Duo D60 watermaker.
Interior Comfort & Layout
Below deck, the layout accommodates up to 10 people across a spacious 3-cabin, 2-head configuration. Domestic amenities include an electric marine head paired with a Raritan sewage treatment system, hot water, interior heating, a top-loading refrigerator, a deep freezer, an oven, and a washing machine. Onboard entertainment and connectivity are provided by a flat-screen TV, a dedicated cockpit TV, a CD/radio stereo setup, and integrated Wi-Fi.
