The BÉNÉTEAU FIRST 31.7 designed by Group Finot, built by Bénéteau in St Gilles in France with the specifications drawn up for the new 31-foot racing cruiser that was to be fast, reliable and comfortable naturally led them back to an inevitable standard and on this First 31.7, performance, elegance and safety go hand in hand more than ever before.
Stomper benefits from excellent service history by her current owners. New standing rigging 2022, New batteries 2022, Sail-drive seal replaced 2017, and New seacocks 2015 with main other items replaced or renewed over their ownership.

Construction
GRP hull, deck and superstructure
Fin keel
Tiller steering
The hull is single-skinned laminated GRP. A structural inner moulding with uni-directional fabric is bonded and laminated to the hull. Its structural role is important as it takes and absorbs the stresses at pressure points (chain plate tie rods, keel, rudder etc.) and spreads any loads, guaranteeing reduced strain on the hull.
The surface to the inner hull makes cleaning easier and provides a better finish.
The hull white painted hull.
The deck is balsa sandwich construction (glass fibre, balsa, polyester resin) for an optimal strength/weight

A roughened non-slip surface increases safety over all deck surfaces. An inner deck moulding is sealed to the deck to round off the finish. The deck is reinforced under deck fittings (winches, tracks, U-bolts, cleats).
Safety and protection of persons on board.

Keel
The keel is constructed in cast iron. To improve their durability, keels are given an anti-corrosion treatment and improved finish before assembly using epoxy based coatings and paint. The keel is fixed to the hull with high-resistance bonding as well as a system of stainless steel screws and backing plates.
